Day 18 - Another skull. People will like this WAY less than the fish, but I need skull related practice. Also, I noticed too late how badly the zygomatic bones are balanced, which is why it looks so squiffy I think. Other than that, pretty pleased with this. I think I’m going to do one with muscle attachments next. Apparently that will help my face drawing. We’ll see.

Day 16 - Trois crayons on pastel paper, although, I decided to move away from the traditional black/sanguine/white combo and change it up with an orangey brown, a purpley brown and a white. I like the effect, especially on this darker coloured paper.

I’ve decided I quite like the crisp high contrast way I do flesh when I only use a 6b pencil and no blending to provide the tone (also, see day 5 for a better example of this). I think I’m going to experiment with this a lot more in the next few days.

Day 12 - Pencil on cartridge paper. I’m not really sure about the perspective on the face in this one, and I can’t seem to fix it. Also, I sketched this from a photo that had been retouched to hell and back, and that felt really difficult too.
